I purchased tickets for the family on Spirit Airlines through a typical third-party website. When we got to the airport we were informed that you cannot carry on your luggage without a $55.00 fee!

If you check it - it's $50.00! So we were extorted for hundreds of dollars which of course is theft and criminality at its best. We were told that "It's all on our website" - but who goes on each Airline's website to make sure that they're not going to severely gouge you for something we've always done for free- carry on baggage???

Of course they won't even give you WATER on the flights without paying for it. Thieves and criminals - indeed this is a bad "Spirit".

Reviewer is in unhappy mood. This person stated that there is a room for improvement of ripped us off for hundreds on baggage. Please immediately contact the author of this review to discuss "ripped off for hundreds of dollars." of spirit airlines baggage policy and associated monetary loss in the amount of $200. Spirit Airlines needs to issue a full refund according to poster's claims.

Honestly, what do you expect for the cheap tickets? So you want to pay for a 6 pack and get champagne.

I personally am adverse to ever traveling on Spirit due to their well-known reputation (bad) and safety record. A simple google search would have informed you of this.

So you do get what you pay for. Lesson learned.

First of all, EVERYONE should go on the individual airline's site to check for fees. That's common sense.

Second, anyone who's every heard anything about Spirit should be aware that they charge less for the flight, but everything - including bags - cost extra.

For someone like myself who doesn't bring anything when I fly, it's great. For someone else maybe not, but do your research.
