We booked our flights to Orlando out of AC at a great price, $60 each way. We arrived at the airport at 9am for our 11:20 flight.

As soon as our plane landed we were told there would be a delay for unscheduled maintenance and the hours started to tick by. They "test drove" the plane after repairs around 1pm and returned to the gate and loaded our luggage onboard. They delayed the flight again and again with little or no communication from the staff; gave us meal vouchers for horrible overpriced terminal food and a free bottle of water, only AFTER the passengers started getting rowdy. We were told, occasionally, that it would be just a little longer, while we watched the other flights come and go in rapid succession.

At this point the flight was delayed until 430. There was a 620pm flight to Orlando that I considered booking, but Hey! our bags were already on the crippled plane and no one indicated that there was a possibility that it would be cancelled. After choking down the barely edible food, we returned to the gate to find a huge crowd at the desk.

Everyone was trying to get information or change their flight. We stood in that line for an hour and a half. In the meantime, my wife called spirit and was told flight 127 was cancelled. She went to the front and informed the staff member of this; she replied, "not to my knowledge".

We rescheduled for an evening flight the following day over the phone, while standing in line. Forty five minutes later, another staff member came out and announced that the flight was cancelled. It was five thirty in the afternoon. We lost our hotel and tour, non-refundable to the tune of $500, and lost our rental car reservation and had to re-book at a much higher last minute rate.

I still do not understand why they strung us along for HOURS. A very fortunate fellow passenger had his sister book them on the 620pm flight the same day, as the cancellation was posted on the website LONG before we were informed. It was a nightmare. They are AWFUL!!!

And they do not compensate you for ANYTHING if your flight is cancelled.

Tough luck! Go Home!

We heard our return flight was delayed from a computer check and when we got to the gate, there was no indication of a flight delay. Even the people at the desk didn't know. Maybe they should have looked out the window since there wasn't even a plane there to board.
