I'm curious to know why Spirit Airlines offers such affordable costs. I've noticed that your prices are often lower compared to other airlines. Could you please explain why Spirit Airlines is known for being budget-friendly?

Spirit's "Hidden" bag fees at the gate are frustrating. Any tips?

I was sure my bag fit the sizer, but they charged me anyway. I'm looking for any tips on how to avoid these surprise costs next time.

I am not a fan of spirit BUT you need to buy your bags before the day of the flight.....I have used Spirit for the past 2 yrs..basically every 2 months and the flights have been on time 95% of the time. The flights are th cheapest if you use there savers club mode and use the points they give you for all purchases.....flight and bags....so my flights are usually under $100

Dont use Spirit airline. Worst company ever. If you look at all the extra costs they charge you, it is actually cheaper to fly American Airlines. Plus, the take-off is always late. Flew with them 6 times, never took off on time. The customer servise is trash, the flight attendants are horrible. Just fly a different company.

How do I make a reservation described below?

Two people want to leave from different air ports and arrive in Huston, TX the same day and about the same time. One is leaving from Portland, OR and the other can leave from either Long Beach, CA airport or LAX.

We would like to fly around April 10 to 15 and need round trip tickets.

According to the Spirit Airlines information center, every traveler 2 years of age or older must provide a negative COVID-19 test result that has been taken within three days preceding their flight's departure. Spirit requires appropriate face coverings during the entire journey.

According to the Spirit Airlines help section, you should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of completing your reservation.
To get a copy of the confirmation receipt, you should follow these steps:
  • log into your account at spirit.com;
  • go to My Trips tab;
  • enter your last name and confirmation code;
  • click the View Your Receipt link on the Reservations Summary page.

According to Spirit Airlines FAQs Spirit Airlines does not transport pets in Cargo at any time.Spirit Airlines does not accept animals on international flights, except in the case of service animals. Spirit only allows small domestic dogs, domestic cats, small household birds and small domestic rabbits on the aircraft. The combined weight of the pet and carrier may not exceed 40 pounds.

According to Spirit Airlines Support, if you are 18 years of age or older, you are required to show a valid U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto your flight.
A list of valid IDs or documents includes the following:
  • Driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles;
  • U.S. passport;
  • U.S. passport card;
  • DHS trusted traveler cards;
  • U.S. Department of Defense ID;
  • Permanent resident card;
  • Border crossing card;
  • State-issued Enhanced Driver’s License;
  • Federally recognized, tribal-issued photo ID;
  • HSPD-12 PIV card;
  • Foreign government-issued passport;
  • Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card;
  • Transportation worker identification credential;

Can I carry on a umbrella that is longer than 22 inches?

I also walk with a cane which is also longer than 22 inches. I believe that isn't a problem. Not sure about an umbrella.

According to the 'What is Spirit Airlines' (NK) carry-on baggage policy?' article posted on seatguru.com, umbrella and assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, child restraint seats, etc.) do not count towards your carry-on allowance.

As stated on jessetters.com, you can print your boarding pass at the Spirit Airlines kiosk for free. Spirit Airlines may charge $10 to print your boarding pass with a gate agent.

As stated on thepointsguy.com, it is cheaper to pay for bags during booking on Spirit’s website, while paying at the gate is the most expensive. According to the 'How do I add bags to my reservation?' details posted on customersupport.spirit.com, if you are accessing your reservation more than 24 hours prior to departure, simply go to the My Trips tab and follow the instructions to access your reservation.
If you are accessing your reservation less than 24 hours prior to departure, simply go to the Online Check-in tab and follow the instructions to access your reservation.

According to the Spirit Airlines Help section, customers who book non-refundable reservations, and do not add travel insurance to their reservation are subject to the terms and conditions of their booking.

Exceptions may be available for a refund of an unused portion upon the death of the passenger prior to or during travel. It is possible to cancel a Spirit Airlines ticket. Refunds are allowed for reservations made 7 days (168 hours) or more prior to your departure, provided that you make the refund request within 24 hours of your initial reservation.

According to Spirit Airlines FAQs, if you are changing your flight, you have to pay only a few bucks without paying the flight difference. Spirit airline charges a $90 fee for cancellations or changes that you need to pay when booking a changed flight over the web and $100 for those who change their flight over the phone or at the airport. The fee is $110 for award flights. There’s no fee to vary or cancel a flight ticket within the twenty-four hours if your flight has a minimum of seven days before the departure.
