This was my first time flying Spirit, and I've flown hundreds of times over the last 40 or so years. But I chose this flight because the schedule matched my needs, and price felt fair.
From the moment I arranged my flight online, and created an account, I felt the whole process was really well done.

Self-tagging the bag and dropping off...easy, with the right amount of staff. Gate experience, and boarding...no problem. I liked the Go Comfy option and felt the pricing was good.
Then...a computer glitch, and a long wait for the techs to come and fix it. That just happens; no human error, no bad attitudes.

But the delay was getting so long, they offered us to deplane - which most of us did. We then re-planed, and left...over 3 hours delayed.
The $12 voucher for airport food was a nice gesture. Once back on board, we researched flier rights and policies when a flight arrives over 3 hours behind schedule, published arrival times. Then once in the air, we get an email with a $30 voucher toward a future flight.

This seemed punitive and outrageous.
But then, it got REALLY disappointing when later I was chatting online with customer support to question this paltry gesture. I was told that since I got back on the plane, I was basically accepting the 3+ hour delay, and I didn't have to do that, I could have gotten a full or partial refund, a different flight, etc. Well, yes I DID have to get back on the plane, because I needed to get there.
I asked what options does a person have? What about those who stayed on the plane.

He said, well they, too, were accepting the situation willingly, and Spirit didn't have to offer anything.
I've flown every major airline there is, and I've never experienced such an awful policy. Nice approach to customer loyalty and retention, Spirit.
The return flight was flawless, but the customer treatment from the first flight has really left me questioning Spirit, because, after all, there are plenty of airline choices available.
Now, this is my third attempt to log a legitimate complaint.

No response or acknowledgement from the first 2 tries. You need to get better at this.

They do not care about their customers, charge over $90 for carry-on luggage, and do care to answer or keep customers. Company is just about their money

Ripped off

Charged $79 each way on a flight. Terrible customer service and the tactless way it was demanded.

I told the gate agent I'd been told there would be no charge on the phone.

However, nothing made a dent in their callous attitude. It was like, 'cough up the money for baggage or else!

they delayed the flight for TWO DAYS! they returned the money for the paid tickets, but that means nothing to me, because I paid three times more for the new tickets, because they were bought at the last minute

My itinerary showed one personal item and one carry from Houston to Detroit but rude staff at Houston airport changed me for two carry one $70 each and were not helpful at all. If I knew it before I would have checked in one bag for just $65. My itinerary also showed pre check and since my boarding passes didn’t show so I’m had to go through security check. So unprofessional staff and poor airline and customer service. Will never use again!!!!!!

Online customer service is absolutely horrible. I will never fly Spirit airlines again. I finally found a phone number where I was able to talk to a real person and was able to cancel my flight and get a refund. I told the representative that the online chat feature is useless and I hope he lets management know.
