Spirit Airlines in San Diego, California - Abysmal and rude customer service

Sorry I have to add my review to the minions of travelers having horrible experiences with Spirit Air. I made my reservation from San Diego to Las Vegas on Feb. 2, booked the wrong travel weekend and immediately called to request the changes and all was agreed upon. The reservation changes were never made and Spirit Air refused to make the agreed upon changes even after hours of phone contact by myself and travel broker Orbitz and I was forced to book on Southwest at double the cost. I'm sure they sold my ticket at a premium profit when I didn't show up and don't doubt this is common practice. The details of my communications with Spirit Air and the call center in Guatamala City were the worst of my entire travel history over 40 years. Horrible Horrible Horrible. I'm spending some of my vacation time rating them on as many review sites as I can find it was so frustrating and unprofessional. I'm a calm, patient flexible and experienced traveler and only reluctantly am engaging in these posts.

Spirit Airlines in Abilene, Kansas - DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SPIRIT!!!

so lets start off by saying "you get what you pay for." this airline is absolutely horrible! i can not believe they are still in business. lets start off for the early check-in the company of you don't print your boarding pass at home will charge you $10 for having their crew print it for you. they also charge for a CARRY ON BAG!!!! WHICH IS $40 per person EACH way AND CHECKED BAGS ARE $35...so my boyfriend and i decided to take one bag to save on $160. we checked in and arrived that the airport where on the screens and monitor showed our flight was ON TIME and set to hit out at 9:30. well we arrive at our gate were there were 2 planes from earlier in the day that had not even boarded. i wanted to see what was going on and if i had the incorrect gate number i get to the counter and a very miserable lady from spirit. tells me "i dont know where your flight will board nor what time ma'am." its now 1035 and we our an hour delayed some lady announces that the flight to Las Vegas is be boarding at another gate but will be delayed till 11:00. we move gates and its now 1125 and we have STILL NOT boarded. needless to say i am pissed off and irritated. the crew comes on the intercom to say that we will be boarding the plane in 10 minutes. well thank goodness well not really 10 minutes turned to 35 minutes and we did not leave until 12:30AM!! we landed in Vegas at 1:30am and weren't allowed to get off the plane until 1:50am because there was no gate for us to deboard the plane. it was a nightmare!! now lets jump to Sunday where we are supposed to be leaving at 1:30am! its 1245 and the plane before us had not left. i call the 1800 number and ask why the plane has not been place on delay and why it was still showing as on time? the lady on the phone stated that it wasn't delayed and was on time. i told her that it was very annoying to be pulled away from a wedding to just wait for a plane that was supposedly on time when it wasn't!!! we finally boarded the plane and left at 2am! and arrived home at 7:30am. i hated this airplane for the price that i payed for the plane ride the carry one and our SEATS (yes they charge for your seats) i could have just gone on united or another GOOD airline. never using spirit airlines again. horrible horrible horrible!!

HORRIBLE... 6 DELAYS TODAY...

MOTHERFOCKING 6!!! Supposed to fly out to Vegas at 2 and arrive at 6pm..... ***!!! Now we leave at midnight and get there after 1am!!!

WTF!?!

6 times our flight was delayed! WOW...

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER FLY WITH THIS socalled airline!!!! :(

Spirit Airlines in Portland, Oregon - Ruined 50th birday party

My flight with Spirit Air was delayed causing us to miss a party that had I planned for my husband's 50th birthday celebration. The most shocking part of it was the treatment that I received at the counter. I requested to be rerouted on a flight that was not delayed. The 'customer service' rep Mark demanded to know why he would do that and told me that plains are delayed all the time. When I tried to answer him and tell him why it was so important for me to be there on time, he cut me off and told me that he was not going to reroute me. He did however give me a solution, and that was to give me a full refund so that I could 'go find another airline to fly with!' I told him this was my first time with Spirit Airlines and that I would not be flying with them again. He let me know that he didn't care if I NEVER flew with Spirit again and repeated that he could give me a full refund. The other customer service rep Eden chimed in that it was only a 2 hr. and 40 min. delay. Somehow that was supposed to make me feel better about missing my reservations and the guest of honor not being there for his party. When I went back to the counter and spoke to Eden to find out what Mark's name was, she gave me only his first name. When I asked for his last name, she pushed her eyebrows together and told me that his first name was all I needed to know. Needless to say, I now have a group of friends in Vegas and we are here at home in Portland. To Marks surprise, I took him up on his offer for a full refund and called my friends. I am now going to tell as many people as I can reach, pay a little extra and fly with a company who understands customer service and respects their customer's time. It's crazy to me that in an economy such as the one we have, that Spirit Airlines can't find anyone with customer service skills to represent their company.

Spirit Airlines in Fort Worth, Texas - Baggage thieves strike Again

I do not recommend this airline. Fees and charges began to add up quickly for seating, baggage, etc. On my Returning flight from Florida airport to DFW layover in Detroit ( don't ask! ) the passengers experienced 2 30 - 45 minute Delays for the same technical difficulty. This is not so bad, but after arriving to our home airport 1/12 hour later than expected we did not open or check our luggage in the airport just went home. Upon open my luggage and unpacking I am livid to find that I have been robbed! My ziplock bag has been stolen from my checked luggage! It Contained my Tom Tom GPS,electronic device adapters and my prescription eyeglasses as well! WARNING If you pack anything of value and CHOOSE TO fly this airline don't check your luggage!!!!!!

Spirit Airlines made my first time flying alone traumatic.

This is my first time ever writing a review. I've never felt so strongly about a company as I do now. I thought I would save some money by flying with Spirit but that was not the case. There were hidden fees all around. For each carry on, it costs money to bring on board. However, it costs more money if you pay for it after you check in. How are you supposed to know you had to pay for carry on baggage until you check in though? Another complaint is for their customer service. My flight was 2 hours delayed so I missed my layover. The flight attendants were very unhelpful when giving me vouchers for my hotel. They did not give me the phone number of the hotel, nor did they tell me how to get from the airport to the hotel with the voucher. We only got 7 dollars for each meal, which could only be used at the airport (i.e., before you pick up your luggage). The line in the morning to check in again was about 3 times as long as any other airline and the employees do not know what is going on at all. They misplaced my baggage and tried to tell me that it was because I checked in late, when in reality, I checked in early. So long story short, I'm never flying with Spirit ever again.

Spirit Airlines in Orlando, Florida - Rip off

Hi my Name is Liz Espitia and I would like to share my experience with spirit airline...everything started with the promotion of the $9 dollar club which is a rip off they charge you $59 dollar to be a member. as soon you buy a ticket they through this program they charge you more then what the regular price is , not only that but the customer services sucks they are very rude and mean , they never help you , the people at the airport they are very mean its like they hate their job, and i mean its not our fault they don't like to work with customers well , as soon as you get in the airplane it gets worst you have to pay for everything including water so if you don't have a credit card sorry because they don't give you anything , my son was sick and I needed water for him and the were very mean I forgot my credit card and they told me it wasn't their problem so guess what no water ....also the flight was late for more the one hour so a 5 hours flight ended up being almost 7 hours ridiculous .....but this is not where it ends. unfortunately when I was coming back I miss my flight. I asked for help and one of the agent from spirit tried to get another flight the next day and she couldn't find anything she told me the next flight is 5 days later which for me that was not possible , I asked her ill take whatever I have to and she said sorry nothing was available , she said the best that I can do is to recommend you to buy another ticket from different airline actually she gave me the name of the airline and she also said that as soon I arrive to USA call spirit and they will give me a voucher that I can use for the next flight , well I bought the tickets I spent $1400 to return so when I finally got home the next day I call spirit and I told them everything and guess what they laugh at me they were very rude and very mean ,,, no surprise there I couldn't expect something better from these people , they said noooooo you lose the money , you would not get your money back and do whatever you want I ask for manager and they said he is busy , he doesn't have time for this type of complaints and he hung up the phone ,,I been calling every where , I Been sending emails and posting comments every where and still no answers....people please DO NOT use this company , please help me to prevent other people get rip off and ruin their vacations like me ....they will take your money and you won't get what they promise... This company SPIRIT AIRLINE is the WORST company in the whole world......

*Not cheapest and not worth low fare*They charge for every little thing, water, soda, juice*Charge for carry on bags size that no other airlines does*Ran out of liquor on a flight to Las Vegas after only a third of the plane had been served. (For example, only had three bottles of Jack Daniels on plane)*Knees press against the seat in front of you if you are only 5'10"*No reclining seats anywhere on plane*Poor to horrible customer service- I think everyone working at Spirit is so use to hearing complaints from everyone, that they've given up trying to provide any customer service or showing any energy at all

Spirit Airlines in Yauco, Puerto Rico - Terrible Customer Service

It took me an hour and a half to book an emergency flight! The website was having problems so first I checked the unhelpful "Help" tab on the web. Since it didn't fix anything, I called Customer Service to see if they could help. To my discontent all I could get was a robot voice!!! No matter what I pressed it was the same robot and no option to speak with a representative. When I finally reached someone (an hour later) he didn't quite help me; instead, he just booked the flight right there and charged me $20 dollars extra! They are lucky my Grandparents only fly with them and it was an emergency.

Spirit Airlines in Englewood, Colorado - 3 strikes and we were NOT out!!!!

Our flight was supposed to leave at 11:50 AM for Las Vegas. We boarded the plan about 40 minutes late, then were told that they had hydralic problems and we had to go back to the terminal for repairs that would take 2-3 hours. After 4 hours, we were told that it would that we would have an update at 5:00 PM . At that time they told us the plane was not ready, and they would update us again. Around 6:00 PM we were told that the plane was ready to board. I also noticed that another Spirit flight at the next gate was scheduled to leave at 6:40 PM for Las Vegas. They told us to board our flight, then they made us sit for about 25 minutes, went out to the tarmac, did a circle, and then stopped. We sat there for another 10 minutes, and then the captain came on and told us that the brake light was on and they had to call the mechanics. Another 10 minutes went by, then they told us we had to go back to the terminal. As we were going back to the terminal, the other Spirit flight had been boarded and passed us on the other runway. I feel that they deliberately boarded us on the plane to get us out of the way so we would not complain any further about the delay. We got back to the terminal and were told it would now be 8:30 PM before we took off. At 7:30, an announcement came on that they were ready to board the flight a THIRD TIME!!! Once again, we boarded, and went out to the tarmac, only to continue to have brake problems. We had to go back to the terminal, at which point they told us the flight was cancelled. We were never offered anything to eat or drink, not even water, nor food vouchers. The staff was not only rude, they were intimidating and threatening us to be quiet, not cause trouble, and "we better not be recording anything". We had to stand in line for over 3 hours to try to get on another airline (which they had never offered to do prior to this), or a refund. Since we did not want to take anymore chances with this airline, including getting stranded in another city, we took the refund, which won't be posted for 7-10 business days. All told, we spent more than 15 hours at the airport, wasted a vacation day, had to pay for parking, had to pay for a hotel room that we did not use, and never received as much as an apology. I have never experienced such horrible treatment and customer service; in fact, the airline's total arrogance and indifference was shocking!!! We will be filing a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration.
